Giving mistakes
a second chance.
How can we make wrong answers less discouraging while preserving the advantage of players who get them right the first time?
Role: Product Design

01 — THE PROBLEM
A wrong answer can break momentum.
In a gamified experience, a mistake can feel like a double penalty: getting a question wrong and falling behind on points. Adaptive Sessions turn this moment into an opportunity to improve.
02 — THE PRINCIPLE
Recovering points while preserving the gap.
Players can revisit previous mistakes across three sessions and recover up to six points. This reward helps narrow the leaderboard gap, but does not let them reach the score of a player who answered everything correctly from the start.
3Sessions available
6Maximum points recoverable
03 — THE EXPERIENCE
A recognisable mode, familiar gameplay.
The mockups show a dedicated entry screen, followed by questions explicitly identified as previous mistakes. Interactions remain close to the usual quiz to make the experience easy to understand.
